Impact framework
How SBP drives credible, evidence‑based sustainability outcomes
Sustainable biomass has a critical role to play in the global bioeconomy. SBP assures that biomass used for energy and biobased products is sourced and produced responsibly, transparently, and in ways that deliver measurable positive impacts.
To do this, we use an integrated impact framework consisting of three core elements. Together, these components form a coherent structure that ensures we remain effective, evidence‑driven, and aligned with global sustainability needs and stakeholder expectations:
Strategy
The direction and priorities that guide our work
Theory of Change
The logic explaining how our activities lead to outcomes and impact
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) system
How we measures progress, learn, and improve over time
Our impact framework at a glance
Strategy
Our Strategy sets the overall ambition for our organisation and defines where we focus our efforts to deliver the greatest value. It outlines our Purpose, Strategic Aims, and Focus Areas for assuring the sustainability and credibility of biomass supply chains globally.
Theory of Change
Our Theory of Change is results‑oriented and sets out the impact pathways that describe the logical and causal relationships between our inputs, outputs, and short, medium and long‑term outcomes. These pathways show how our activities ultimately deliver SBP’s intended impact and Purpose, providing a transparent explanation of how our certification scheme, data, and stakeholder engagement together support responsible biomass production and use.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) system
Our Strategy sets the overall ambition for our organisation and defines where we focus our efforts to deliver the greatest value. It outlines our Purpose, Strategic Aims, and Focus Areas for assuring the sustainability and credibility of biomass supply chains globally.
