Standards Documents
Our Standards form the foundation of the SBP certification scheme
They define the principles, requirements, and processes that underpin credible, consistent certification across the global biomass supply chain. Through continuous improvement and stakeholder collaboration, the SBP Standards support confidence, transparency, and trust in sustainable biomass sourcing.
Standards v2.0 became effective on 10 August 2023 and will be retired on 28 October 2027. Standards v2.1 will become effective on 29 July 2026. All Certificate Holders must transition to v2.1 by 28 October 2027.
Please note:
In addition to the Standards set out on this page, there are a number of guidance and supporting documents and resources available. These materials are designed to provide further context, practical advice, and detailed examples to assist with implementation.
Whilst the Standards outline the required expectations, the accompanying guidance should be reviewed and considered alongside them to ensure a full understanding of the intent and best practice approaches, promoting consistency, quality, and effective application.
Users are therefore encouraged to refer to the relevant guidance and supporting documents where available, particularly when interpreting requirements or applying standards in specific scenarios.
